- Oral health exams– Your cat’s oral health can affect their overall health and well-being. Oral tartar and gingivitis can progress to periodontal disease. Periodontal disease can lead to pain and infections, which could mean dental extractions. We will examine your cat’s teeth at every visit and recommend a dental cleaning whenever we see early signs of tartar and gingivitis. Our goal is to prevent the need for oral surgery and extractions whenever possible.
- Professional dental cleanings– In order to perform a proper dental cleaning and oral exam, your cat will be anesthetized. A complete oral exam is done by the doctor, and the teeth are cleaned using the ultrasonic scaler, and then polished.
- Digital dental x-ray– Every dental gets full mouth dental radiographs with our new, state of the art digital dental unit. The radiographs are evaluated by the veterinarian. Studies show that the majority of periodontal disease in cats is under the gum line and not visible during a routine exam. The dental x-rays can catch disease before it becomes painful for your cat.
